White-crowned Shama

The White-crowned Shama, scientifically classified as Copsychus stricklandii, is a passerine bird endemic to the island of Borneo. It is taxonomically situated within the Muscicapidae family and is frequently categorized as a subspecies of the White-rumped Shama, though its distinct morphological features, such as the prominent white crown and differing vocalizations, have led many ornithologists to treat it as a separate species. Evolutionarily, it adapted to the lowland forests and limestone outcrops of the region, developing its characteristic long tail to assist in maneuverability within dense vegetation.
