White-hooded Babbler

The White-hooded Babbler, Gampsorhynchus rufulus, is a distinct passerine bird species belonging to the family Pellorneidae. Found primarily across the foothills of the Himalayas, Myanmar, and parts of Southeast Asia, it occupies dense evergreen forests and thick bamboo undergrowth. Its naming reflects its most striking physical characteristic: a stark, snowy-white head that contrasts sharply with the rich, rufous-brown plumage of its wings and mantle.

Ornithologically, the species is defined by its specialized morphology, including a distinctively rounded wing shape suited for short-distance flight through tangled canopy layers and a notched tail that aids in maneuverability within dense vegetation.
