Yellow-chevroned Parakeet

The yellow-chevroned parakeet, scientifically known as Brotogeris chiriri, is a small neotropical parrot native to the Cerrado and surrounding regions of South America, including parts of Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina. Unlike many species specifically bred for human captivity, this bird's history is rooted in its natural adaptation to wooded savannas and urban environments, where it has historically thrived due to its resourceful nature. Its common name is derived from the subtle, bright yellow patch located on the inner wing feathers, a characteristic feature that distinguishes it from its close relative, the cobalt-winged parakeet.

Ornithologists and naturalists have long studied the species for its complex social behaviors and distinct, high-pitched vocalizations.
