Yellow-collared Macaw

The yellow-collared macaw, scientifically known as Primolius auricollis, is native to the central South American regions including parts of Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina. Unlike many of its larger, more ornate relatives, this species has historically occupied a niche as a hardy and adaptable bird within the Neotropical macaw family. Its distinctive yellow nape, which gives the species its common name, was first formally described by scientists in the 19th century, marking its transition from an obscure local inhabitant to a recognized entry in avian taxonomy.
