Yellow-streaked Greenbul

The Yellow-streaked Greenbul (Phyllastrephus flavostriatus) is a passerine bird belonging to the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae. It is native to the Afromontane forests of East and Southern Africa, specifically ranging from southern Tanzania through Malawi and Zimbabwe to the eastern regions of South Africa. As a species identified within the taxonomical history of African ornithology, it reflects the adaptation of the Bulbul family to dense, humid forest understories, relying on its rounded wing and tail morphology for maneuverability in thick vegetation.

The species was formally described as Phyllastrephus flavostriatus by the zoologist Richard Bowdler Sharpe in 1876. Its common name describes its distinct yellow streaking against a greenish-olive plumage, a visual characteristic that provides effective camouflage in the dappled light of the forest canopy.
