MatchUp

MatchUp is a high-profile 2017 anthology commissioned by International Thriller Writers to pair established bestselling authors with their contemporaries in a series of collaborative short stories. The collection was designed to highlight the collaborative potential within the thriller genre, featuring pairings that contrast different writing styles and iconic characters. The project was meticulously curated to generate interest in the craft of suspense, serving as both a celebration of the genre and a showcase for the breadth of talent represented by the organization.

Lee Child, best known for his Jack Reacher series, contributed to this anthology by writing a crossover story that integrated his protagonist into a shared narrative space. The physical volume published by Thorndike Press was released as a large-print edition to ensure accessibility for a wider readership. Critics generally received the anthology as an engaging exercise in literary chemistry, appreciating the opportunity to see how authors who often work in isolation adapted their distinct voices when partnered with other luminaries in the field.
