Mosaici a S. Vitale e altri restauri : il restauro in situ di mosaici parietali : atti del Convegno nazionale sul restauro in situ di mosaici parietali, Ravenna 1-3 ottobre 1990

This volume serves as the formal proceedings of the Convegno nazionale sul restauro in situ di mosaici parietali, held in Ravenna in October 1990. The symposium was convened to address the technical and ethical challenges of conserving Byzantine mosaics directly on their historic sites, specifically focusing on the renowned Basilica of San Vitale. It represents a significant academic effort to standardize methodologies for in-situ restoration within Italy's rich heritage of mosaic preservation.

Published by Longo in 1992, the work compiles contributions from leading restoration experts, architects, and art historians of the era. The text was intended as a technical resource for professionals, prioritizing the preservation of original materials over the restorative interventions that had historically characterized the field. Its reception was largely confined to academic and conservationist circles, where it remains a cited reference for the evolution of specialized restoration techniques in late 20th-century archaeology.
