Where it came from
Published in 2012 by L'Harmattan, this monograph by Lydie Rekow-Fond explores the career and conceptual framework of Paul-Armand Gette, a significant figure in French contemporary art. Gette is known for his multidisciplinary approach, often blurring the lines between botany, geology, and eroticism to examine the intersection of nature and human perception. This work contextualizes his practice within the broader scope of late 20th-century aesthetic inquiry.
Rekow-Fond provides a critical analysis of Gette's obsession with the 'limits' of classification and physical space. The book serves as a scholarly study of how Gette utilizes photography, sculpture, and installation to challenge traditional scientific observation. It was released as part of the publisher's commitment to academic and artistic discourse, intended for researchers and collectors interested in the evolution of conceptual art in Europe.
