The Hawkman

The Hawkman was published in 2018 by Amberjack Publishing, a house known for its focus on literary fiction and narrative non-fiction. Jane Rosenberg LaForge, an accomplished poet and novelist, crafted this work to explore themes of mythology and historical trauma, specifically drawing upon the complex legacy of the mid-20th-century aviation and cultural figure, Charles Lindbergh. By reframing historical events through a lens of speculative fiction, the author creates a narrative that interrogates the weight of public perception versus private reality.

The design of the book reflects a mid-market contemporary aesthetic, typical of independent presses during the late 2010s that aim to balance literary substance with accessible shelf appeal. The cover art serves to visually evoke the historical atmosphere of the early aviation era while hinting at the metaphorical avian motifs woven throughout the text. Upon its release, the novel was noted for its lyrical prose and its ambitious attempt to reimagine the life of a polarizing historical figure, finding a niche audience among readers of historical fiction interested in non-traditional character studies.
