Elija y gane

Elija y gane was released in 1999 as the third studio album by the band Spinetta y los Socios del Desierto, led by the iconic Argentine musician Luis Alberto Spinetta. Emerging at the tail end of a prolific period for the trio, the album arrived following the ambitious, sprawling self-titled double album of 1997. It was recorded with Marcelo Torres on bass and Daniel Wirtz on drums, capturing a tighter, more direct approach to the band's signature fusion of rock, jazz, and introspective poetry.

The album's aesthetic reflects Spinetta’s enduring fascination with both complex musical structures and lyrical abstraction. While it retains the high-fidelity power trio dynamics that defined the group's final years, the production emphasizes a certain clarity and focus compared to their previous output. Critics at the time viewed it as a transitionary work that showcased Spinetta’s refined songwriting maturity, cementing the band's status as a fundamental force in late 20th-century Argentine rock before the trio eventually disbanded.
