Hodie! (Choral Works Of Benjamin Britten & Daniel Pinkham)

Hodie! was released by Gothic Records in 2019, showcasing the choral mastery of The Dale Warland Singers. The recording serves as a curated exploration of twentieth-century choral literature, pairing the intricate, neoclassical textures of Benjamin Britten with the evocative, often liturgical compositions of Daniel Pinkham. This collection reflects the long-standing dedication of the ensemble to high-fidelity choral performance, capturing the nuanced harmonic shifts and rhythmic precision that defined Warland’s tenure as a preeminent choral conductor.

The album reflects a specific mid-to-late twentieth-century American choral tradition, where the intersection of sacred themes and modern musical language was a frequent subject of artistic inquiry. Benjamin Britten's contributions represent a standard for contemporary vocal writing, while Pinkham's inclusion provides a stylistic bridge to the mid-century American avant-garde. The release was received as a scholarly effort to preserve the technical rigor and stylistic breadth of Warland's interpretation, offering a definitive reference point for enthusiasts of choral music.
