Jolly Story Vol.1

Jolly Story Vol. 1 was released in 2011 by the Italian label btf.it, known for its dedication to archiving and reissuing rare Italian soundtracks and library music. This compilation was curated to showcase the distinct sound of the 'Jolly' library music series, a collection of tracks originally recorded in the 1960s and 1970s for use in film, television, and radio production. These recordings represent the height of Italian studio experimentation, blending jazz, bossa nova, and orchestral pop in a style that served as the sonic backdrop for the era's diverse media landscape.

The design and curation of this release reflect the broader mission of btf.it to contextualize the work of anonymous or lesser-known studio composers who operated within the commercial music machine. The selection draws from the rich back catalog of the Jolly label, capturing an aesthetic that prioritizes atmospheric versatility and rhythmic innovation. Upon its release, the compilation was welcomed by niche collectors of library music and soundtrack aficionados who value the preservation of these evocative, functional compositions that otherwise might have been lost to history.
