Where it came from
Released in November 2021, The Billage of Perception: Chapter One marks the debut extended play by the South Korean girl group Billlie. The project was launched under Mystic Story, a label primarily known for its singer-songwriter roster, signaling a bold venture into the competitive K-pop idol market. The EP serves as the foundational narrative piece for the group's expansive and intricate fictional universe, which centers on the mysterious disappearance of a girl named Billlie Love, grounding the music in a cohesive storytelling experience.
The album's design and conceptual direction were crafted to emphasize a dark, whimsical aesthetic that blends high-concept mystery with energetic musical production. By incorporating elements of suspense and psychological intrigue, the visual identity of the project was intended to distinguish the group from contemporary acts through a distinct, layered lore. Upon its release, the project was recognized by critics and fans for its unconventional soundscape and the ambitious scope of its world-building, establishing the framework for all subsequent chapters in the series.
