1 Ducat - Wenzel

The 1794 ducat was minted under the authority of the House of Paar, an influential noble family in the Holy Roman Empire that held the title of Imperial Counts and later Princes. These coins were produced primarily as trade currency and displays of sovereign prestige within their lands, which were centered in Bohemia. The striking of such gold coinage served to reinforce the family's status as members of the high nobility, authorized by the Habsburg administration to maintain their own coinage rights.

The design of these pieces typically adheres to the formal traditions of late eighteenth-century heraldic numismatics. It features the family coat of arms, which signifies their ancestral lineage and territorial claims. While the specific engraver for the 1794 issue is not broadly recorded, such coins were created following standard Austrian minting techniques of the era, aiming for a high degree of metallic purity to ensure acceptance in wider European commercial networks.
