Where it came from
The 2012 20 Roubles coin was minted by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and the People's Republic of China. Released as part of a bilateral commemorative program, the coin reflects the strengthening of economic and political ties between the two nations following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Its design is intended to emphasize the spirit of cooperation and mutual development that defined the diplomatic landscape of the early 21st century.
The obverse of the coin features the national coat of arms of Belarus, while the reverse showcases an artistic representation of a pagoda alongside traditional Belarusian architectural motifs, symbolizing the union of eastern and western cultures. The design was produced at the Mint of Poland, which was commissioned by the Belarusian central bank to execute the intricate relief work. It was primarily distributed to numismatic collectors and participants in official state diplomatic exchanges, serving as a symbolic token of international friendship.
