1:2 Kōsai wa LoveCome ni Hairimasu ka? #1

Kōsai wa LoveCome ni Hairimasu ka? (Does Paying for Relationships Count as a Rom-Com?) is a light novel series authored by Ryōya Kamo with illustrations by the artist known as R-light. The series debuted in the early 2020s, emerging during a period of sustained interest in unconventional romantic comedies within the Japanese light novel market. It explores the premise of navigating romantic tropes within the context of paid transactional relationships, utilizing a meta-narrative approach that deconstructs the genre's standard emotional beats.

The character designs and cover art by R-light are central to the series' appeal, characterized by a clean, vibrant aesthetic that aligns with contemporary seinen and shonen light novel trends. The art direction emphasizes the distinct, often stark personalities of the leads to contrast with the chaotic, sitcom-like nature of the plot. Upon its release, the first volume was positioned within the crowded romance-comedy category, garnering attention for its specific blend of cynical humor and traditional romantic character dynamics, ultimately finding a dedicated niche among readers of the genre.
