Where it came from
2000 AD Presents was a North American anthology series launched in the late 1980s by Quality Comics to introduce the British weekly comic 2000 AD to a wider audience. This specific issue, number 13, served as part of a curated effort to repackage classic strips from the UK publication, ensuring that iconic characters like Judge Dredd reached readers who did not have access to the original British imports.
The editorial direction focused on maintaining the gritty, satirical, and fast-paced aesthetic established by creators like John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. The series was received as a vital bridge for fans of international science fiction comics, preserving the distinct visual identity of the 2000 AD stable while adapting the formatting to suit the standard American floppy comic book style prevalent at the time.
