Adventure Comics #158

Adventure Comics #158 was published in November 1950 by DC Comics, during the period often referred to as the Golden Age of comic books. At this stage in the series' long tenure, the title was an anthology publication that primarily featured Superboy as its lead character. The issue reflects the post-war era's focus on suburban fantasy and the specific editorial direction of Mort Weisinger, who helped shape the mythos of the Superboy character before he officially joined the Legion of Super-Heroes later in the decade.

The interior art for the Superboy feature is attributed to Al Plastino, one of the most prolific and recognizable artists of the era. Plastino was known for his clean, clear line work and his ability to maintain visual consistency for the character, which was crucial for DC as they solidified Superboy's identity independent of his adult persona. The issue is typical of the period's production, intended as inexpensive mass-market entertainment for younger readers, with narratives centered on high-concept adventures that emphasized moral clarity.
