Where it came from
Adventure Comics #66 was published in September 1941 by DC Comics, representing a mid-tier entry in the long-running series during the Golden Age of comic books. By this time, the title had transitioned from its earlier incarnation as New Adventure Comics and was serving as a home for various anthology stories, including the popular Sandman features illustrated by artists like Creig Flessel.
The issue reflects the editorial aesthetic of the era, which favored episodic, action-oriented narratives designed to appeal to younger readers during a period of rapid industry growth. While the title is best remembered today for its later role in establishing the Legion of Super-Heroes, issues from this specific period are valued by historians for their preservation of the evolving visual language and character archetypes that defined DC's output before the eventual shift toward more complex serialized storytelling.
