Akai Kiri no Naka Kara #2

Akai Kiri no Naka Kara, translating to From Within the Red Mist, is a series of mystery-focused manga works primarily associated with the mid-20th-century Japanese suspense and horror market. The series operates within the tradition of 'kashihon' or rental manga, a unique cultural phenomenon in post-war Japan where stories were distributed through specialized rental libraries rather than direct retail, allowing creators more freedom to experiment with darker, more mature narrative themes.

The design and artistic direction of the second issue reflect the stylistic conventions of the era, emphasizing high-contrast ink work and atmospheric tension to mirror the psychological unease of the mystery genre. While the specific authorship of individual chapters in such anthological or serialized rental works is often obscured by the collective studio environments of the time, the series is widely regarded by collectors as a quintessential example of the shift toward character-driven suspense that paved the way for later legends of the Japanese horror genre.
