Where it came from
Released by Dark Horse Comics in 1989, Aliens vs. Predator #0 served as a promotional bridge to launch the crossover franchise that pitted two of cinema's most iconic extraterrestrial species against one another. The comic was strategically published to capitalize on the success of the respective film properties and to establish a cohesive narrative universe for the characters in print before later expansions.
The issue featured cover art by Chris Warner, who leaned into the dark, visceral aesthetic characteristic of the Aliens and Predator film designs. The publication was well-received by fans of both franchises, effectively setting the tone for the subsequent miniseries and cementing the concept of the 'Alien vs. Predator' conflict as a cornerstone of modern science fiction comic books.
