Where it came from
Published in September 1983 by DC Comics, All-Star Squadron #25 was part of Roy Thomas’s ambitious project to map the history of the Justice Society of America and their contemporaries during the Second World War. This specific issue is noted for its role in the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' lead-up, as it features a pivotal crossover event involving the Justice League of America and the Justice Society, exploring the legacy of DC's Golden Age heroes in a modern narrative context.
The cover and interior art were helmed by Jerry Ordway, a quintessential artist of the era known for his meticulous, classically influenced style. Ordway’s work on this series sought to evoke the aesthetic of 1940s comics while maintaining the clean, detailed line work required by 1980s printing standards. The issue was received well by fans of historical continuity, appreciated for its dedication to bridging the gap between disparate timelines within the DC multiverse.
