All-Star Squadron #66

All-Star Squadron #66, published by DC Comics in early 1987, stands as the final issue of the long-running series created by Roy Thomas. Launched in 1981, the title was designed to chronicle the adventures of the Justice Society of America and various Golden Age heroes during the second World War. By the time this final issue arrived, the series was navigating the aftermath of the seminal limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths, which significantly altered the continuity of the DC Universe.

The issue features a script by Roy Thomas, who was instrumental in grounding the narrative in historical and canonical detail, with art by Michael Bair and Arvell Jones. The creative team aimed to provide a sense of closure to the ensemble cast, navigating the complexities of post-Crisis status quo shifts. While the series remained a cult favorite among fans of classic DC history, the conclusion was widely seen as a necessary transition point for the publisher as they rebooted their historical lineup throughout the late 1980s.
