Angolmois: Genkō Kassenki - Hakata Hen #12

Angolmois: Genkō Kassenki - Hakata Hen is the sequel series to the historical manga Angolmois: Genkō Kassenki, created by artist Nanaki Takagi. Set during the 13th-century Mongol invasions of Japan, the series follows the intense military conflicts and personal struggles of warriors tasked with defending the Tsushima and Hakata regions. The Hakata Hen, or Hakata Arc, continues this gritty exploration of medieval warfare, focusing on the tactical and emotional realities faced by the Kamakura shogunate's defenders during the second invasion.

Nanaki Takagi's approach to the series is noted for its meticulous research and dramatic, ink-heavy illustration style that emphasizes the visceral tension of battlefield combat. Issue #12 serves as a pivotal installment in the Hakata arc, reflecting the series' established tone of historical realism blended with character-driven narrative. The work has been praised by readers and historical fiction enthusiasts for its departure from traditional romanticized depictions of the era, opting instead for a somber and grounded portrayal of the Goryei war period.
