Aquaman #17

Published by DC Comics in 1964, Aquaman #17 represents a pivotal moment during the Silver Age of comic books. At this time, the character was being revitalized under the direction of writer Jack Miller and artist Nick Cardy, whose signature style helped define Aquaman's aesthetic for a generation of readers. This era sought to transition the character from a simple maritime hero into a more complex monarch of the ocean, grounding his adventures in the political intrigue of Atlantis.

Nick Cardy is widely credited with elevating the visual quality of the series during this period, bringing a refined sense of movement and detail to underwater sequences that were technically challenging to illustrate. The cover and interior art from this issue are frequently cited by historians as examples of Cardy's ability to balance dynamic action with the surreal, alien atmosphere of the deep sea. The issue was received as a solid entry in DC's expanding universe, reinforcing the publisher's commitment to developing Aquaman's supporting cast and mythos.
