Archie Comics 85th Anniversary Presents: Betty and Veronica Swimsuit Special #1

Published in 2024 as part of the Archie Comics 85th anniversary celebration, this special edition serves as a modern revival of the iconic swimsuit issue tradition that Archie Comics popularized in the 1990s. The issue was designed to honor the long-standing legacy of the Archie characters, specifically focusing on the beach-themed aesthetic that has defined the summer-themed specials for decades. It combines the classic character dynamics of Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge with contemporary art styles to celebrate the publisher's milestone.

The issue features a collaborative effort from various artists and writers who have contributed to the Archie franchise, aiming to bridge the gap between vintage charm and modern graphic storytelling. The design aesthetic was intentionally nostalgic, drawing inspiration from the pin-up influence of the original 90s issues while ensuring the visual presentation met current industry standards. It was received as a commemorative tribute, appealing to long-term fans who remember the original swimsuit specials and new readers interested in the characters' enduring cultural presence.
