Batman by Tom King Omnibus #1

The Batman by Tom King Omnibus, Volume 1, collects the first half of Tom King’s expansive run on DC Comics' flagship Batman title, which launched in 2016 as part of the publisher's DC Rebirth initiative. This era was defined by a shift toward a more psychological and character-driven exploration of Bruce Wayne, specifically focusing on his high-stakes relationship with Selina Kyle and his efforts to redefine his mission as Gotham's protector. The omnibus format serves as a definitive archival collection for this controversial yet commercially significant period in modern DC history.

The design of this omnibus adheres to the standard DC Compendium aesthetic, prioritizing longevity and ease of reference for heavy hardcover collectors. The volume features cover art primarily drawn by Mikel Janín, a frequent collaborator with King during this run, whose clean, expressive lines became the visual signature of the series. While the run was met with varied reactions from critics regarding its pacing and heavy use of meta-textual themes, the omnibus has been well-received by fans who prefer binge-reading the dense, multi-layered narrative threads King wove throughout his tenure.
