Best of the Brave and the Bold #5

Best of the Brave and the Bold was a reprint series published by DC Comics in the late 1980s, designed to repackage significant stories from the long-running Brave and the Bold title. This series allowed a new generation of readers to access team-up stories between iconic DC characters that had originally appeared in the 1960s and 1970s. The curation focused on the creative chemistry between legendary writers like Bob Haney and artists such as Jim Aparo, whose collaborations defined the spirit of the original anthology series.

The design of these issues relied on the classic visual language of DC’s Bronze Age production, often utilizing updated trade dress while highlighting the dynamic cover art of the original issues. Issue number 5 continued this tradition, serving as a functional, accessible archive of superhero team-ups. While the series was largely intended for the growing collector market and those seeking back-issue content without the premium prices of original printings, it remains a notable example of DC's archival efforts during the decade.
