Where it came from
Released in 2000 during the 'Revolution' era of the X-Men comics, this issue serves as part of the short-lived Bishop: The Last X-Man series. The title was born out of the 1999 editorial decision to shift the direction of several mutant-related books, positioning Bishop in a dystopian future timeline to explore his roots as a police officer in a world overrun by sentinel-controlled oppression.
The issue features art by Georges Jeanty, whose kinetic, grounded style was tasked with bridging the gap between the gritty aesthetic of the early nineties and the more modern, cinematic look favored by Marvel at the turn of the millennium. The series was met with a mixed critical reception, as readers struggled to connect with the protagonist removed from his traditional supporting cast, ultimately leading to the title's cancellation after sixteen issues.
