Blade Runner Origins: Products #1

Blade Runner Origins: Products #1 was released as part of the expanded comic book narrative set within the Blade Runner universe, serving as a prequel to the events of the original 1982 film. Published by Titan Comics, this series was developed to bridge the chronological gap between the atmospheric world established by Ridley Scott and the later developments in the franchise. The creative team aimed to provide a grounded, noir-inspired backstory that explores the systemic corporate origins of the Tyrell Corporation and the societal impacts of replicant technology.

The visual direction for the series focuses on maintaining the distinctive aesthetic of the Blade Runner aesthetic, utilizing dark, moody illustrations that reflect the crumbling urban environment of Los Angeles. The narrative design leans heavily into detective fiction tropes, intended to offer readers deeper context into the initial creation of the Nexus-series replicants. It was generally received as a thoughtful expansion of the source material, praised by fans for adhering to the visual language of the original films while establishing its own unique investigative mystery.
