Bruno Brazil #5

Bruno Brazil debuted in 1968 within the pages of the Franco-Belgian comics magazine Tintin, created by writer Greg and artist William Vance. The series was designed to bring a sophisticated, action-oriented aesthetic to the medium, drawing inspiration from contemporary spy fiction and thriller cinema of the late 1960s. By the time the fifth issue was released, the series had established its identity as a gritty, international procedural centered on a secret agent and his specialized commando unit, reflecting the era's fascination with Cold War espionage narratives.

William Vance’s illustration style for this series is noted for its clean, realistic linework and cinematic framing, which helped differentiate the title from the more lighthearted adventure comics prevalent at the time. Greg, known for his prolific and versatile storytelling, crafted narratives that balanced technical detail with character-driven conflict. The series was well-received by readers of the period for its grounded tone and mature approach to the action genre, cementing its place as a significant entry in the history of European comics.
