Captain Marvel #62

Captain Marvel issue 62 was published by Marvel Comics in July 1979 during the title's original run. This era of the series is notable for the creative stewardship of writer Doug Moench and artist Pat Broderick, who navigated the character through a transitional period following the major cosmic arcs that defined the early life of Mar-Vell. The series sought to ground the titular hero within more traditional superhero narratives while maintaining the science-fiction elements that were hallmarks of the franchise.

The cover and interior work reflect the house style of Marvel in the late 1970s, prioritizing dynamic action and dramatic character poses. While this issue arrived during a time of shifting editorial focus for the Captain Marvel character, it remains a piece of the broader legacy of Mar-Vell. At the time of its release, the title served as a standard entry in the Marvel catalog, appreciated by readers for its consistent characterization and the artistic continuity provided by Broderick's pencils.
