Charlton Bullseye #10

Charlton Bullseye was a magazine-style anthology series published by Charlton Comics between 1981 and 1982. This tenth issue arrived during a period when the publisher was attempting to revitalize its profile by blending classic reprint material with new, creator-driven features. The series was designed to showcase the work of artists and writers who were often given more creative autonomy than they would have had at major houses like Marvel or DC, serving as a prestige format for the company's final years of operation.

The art and editorial direction of this period were influenced by the industry's shift toward the direct market, with creators like Joe Staton and others contributing to the eclectic aesthetic of the anthology. While Charlton struggled to maintain a consistent market presence against larger competitors, Bullseye remains a notable artifact of late-Bronze Age comics. It is regarded by collectors as a transitional piece that bridged the gap between the waning newsstand model and the emerging era of dedicated comic specialty shops.
