Classic X-Men #6

Classic X-Men #6, released in February 1987, serves as a cornerstone of the reprint series launched by Marvel Comics to reintroduce iconic storylines from the late 1970s to a new generation of readers. This specific issue features a reprint of X-Men #103, originally written by Chris Claremont and penciled by Dave Cockrum, which depicts the team's encounter with the Imperial Guard in the M'Kraan Crystal saga. The publication was designed to provide historical context for contemporary readers, filling gaps in the lore during a period of significant growth for the X-Men franchise.

The issue is particularly noted for its new cover art and supplemental material, which were hallmarks of the Classic X-Men line. The cover for this issue was illustrated by Arthur Adams, a fan-favorite artist whose intricate, dynamic style helped define the aesthetic of the series. By pairing classic narratives with updated, high-quality cover art and expanded backup stories that enriched character backstories, the editorial team successfully bridged the gap between Bronze Age storytelling and the modern sensibilities of the late 1980s.
