Crimes Against Nature #1

Crimes Against Nature #1 was published in 1978 as part of an underground comix anthology series that emerged during a period of intense artistic experimentation in the independent publishing scene. These works were designed to push the boundaries of narrative and visual expression, often addressing themes of social critique and countercultural philosophy that were largely absent from mainstream comic books of the era.

The publication reflected the raw, idiosyncratic aesthetic common to the late seventies underground movement, where illustrators prioritized personal vision and provocative storytelling over commercial polish. Because these anthologies were typically distributed in limited quantities through head shops and specialty bookstores, the series is recognized today primarily for its role in preserving the unfiltered creative output of a specific moment in alternative literary history.
