Daffy Duck #57

Daffy Duck number 57 was published in 1960 by Dell Comics, which held the licensing rights to Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters during the mid-twentieth century. This era of comic production was defined by the transition from the golden age to the silver age, where anthropomorphic cartoon stars were staples of the newsstand, designed to provide lighthearted, accessible entertainment for young readers.

The artwork within this issue reflects the standardized house style maintained by Dell’s editorial team, often utilizing uncredited studio artists who adapted the animated personality of the character for print. While Daffy Duck began as a chaotic, unpredictable figure in his 1937 film debut, the comic series presented a slightly more contained version of the character, balancing his manic energy with the slapstick gags characteristic of the animation department's influence.
