Daredevil #11

Published in December 1965, Daredevil #11 serves as a notable entry in the early development of the Man Without Fear. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by John Romita Sr., this issue captures the period when the series was still establishing its unique tone, blending superhero tropes with the gritty urban atmosphere that would define the character. It arrived during a prolific era for Marvel as the publisher sought to differentiate its stable of heroes through heightened emotional vulnerability and personal struggle.

The design of the issue reflects the transition of the character's aesthetic under Romita, who brought a sleeker, more dynamic linework to Matt Murdock’s world. At this stage in the series, the creative team was balancing the protagonist’s dual identity as a lawyer and a vigilante, a narrative tension that helped solidify Daredevil's place in the Marvel Universe. Critics and fans of the era noted the visual progression in the series as Romita’s influence began to shape the visual language of the title.
