Dead Acre: Black Badge #1

Dead Acre: Black Badge #1 was released as part of the Dead Acre comic universe, an independent horror-western project centered on the haunting atmosphere of a cursed post-Civil War town. The title was developed to expand the lore of the central property, focusing on the specific narrative arc of the Black Badge characters, who function as supernatural enforcers within the story's grim, gothic-influenced frontier setting.

The creative team behind the issue sought to marry the aesthetic of traditional western pulp magazines with dark, contemporary horror sensibilities. By utilizing high-contrast ink work and a gritty visual style, the illustrators aimed to heighten the sense of isolation and dread inherent to the town's history. Upon its release, the issue was noted by genre enthusiasts for its commitment to world-building and its stylistic departure from mainstream superhero-centric comic aesthetics.
