Destination Kill #1

Destination Kill #1 was released during the late 1980s as part of a wave of independent black-and-white comic books that sought to capitalize on the gritty, noir-inspired aesthetic popularized by the era's underground publishing scene. These comics were often produced by small, creator-owned studios aiming to push the boundaries of storytelling through darker themes and stylized, high-contrast illustration techniques that departed from the mainstream superhero tropes of the time.

The creative direction behind the series focused on a hard-boiled narrative structure, utilizing bold ink-work and stark shadows to establish a sense of suspense and urban cynicism. While these titles often faced challenges regarding distribution and market visibility, they remain notable examples of the DIY spirit inherent in independent comics, representing a specific movement where creators prioritized artistic expression and stylistic experimentation over the industry's traditional editorial constraints.
