Detective Comics #1106

Detective Comics #1106, released in 2024 as part of DC Comics' long-running flagship series, marks a significant entry in the 'Gotham Nocturne' era. This issue continues the narrative arc penned by Ram V, who has been widely noted for his gothic, operatic approach to the Batman mythos. The series was designed to shift the tone of Gotham City toward a more atmospheric, dark, and orchestral aesthetic, moving away from conventional superhero tropes to explore the psychological decay of the setting.

The interior art for this period of the series features contributions from various artists maintaining a consistent, moody visual language. Detective Comics has served as the bedrock of the DC Universe since 1937, and this specific run was received by critics as a deliberate effort to re-establish the title as a prestige horror-noir publication. The design choices emphasize shadow, architectural scale, and a sense of encroaching dread, reflecting a modern editorial direction that prioritizes deep-lore exploration over traditional action-focused storytelling.
