Where it came from
Die Kriege von Arran is the German-language edition of the expansive French high-fantasy comic book franchise Les Terres d'Arran, published by Splitter Verlag. This specific installment, issue number 6, originates from the Elves sub-series, which chronicles the intricate political and cultural histories of the five distinct elven races. Launched in France by Éditions Soleil, the series was designed to build a dense, interconnected world through standalone stories that converge into a larger geopolitical narrative.
The creative direction for the Elves series involves rotating teams of writers and artists to maintain a fresh aesthetic while adhering to a consistent world-building bible. Issue 6 follows the characteristic style of the franchise, emphasizing gritty, epic fantasy visuals and character-driven drama. The series has been widely recognized for its high production values and its successful synthesis of classic European bande dessinée storytelling with modern fantasy tropes, earning a dedicated following among readers who appreciate complex, long-form world-building.
