DuckTales #1

DuckTales #1 was published by Gladstone Publishing in 1988, serving as the debut issue for the comic book adaptation of the popular Disney animated television series. The comic was created to capitalize on the show's sudden success, which had revitalized the legacy of Carl Barks's duck universe for a new generation of viewers by blending adventure-driven narratives with the established personalities of Scrooge McDuck and his grandnephews.

The early issues were designed to bridge the gap between television animation and the traditional aesthetic of Disney comics. These books often featured a mix of original stories and reprints of classic material, handled by artists and writers who maintained a visual fidelity to the series' character models. It was generally well-received by fans of the show, acting as a reliable print extension of the Saturday morning cartoon experience throughout the late eighties.
