Eerie #62

Eerie #62 was published by Warren Publishing in January 1975, arriving at a time when the magazine-format horror anthology was a staple of the American counterculture comics scene. Like its sister publication Creepy, Eerie provided a sophisticated, black-and-white alternative to the restricted content of the Comics Code Authority, allowing artists and writers more creative freedom to explore darker, more visceral themes.

The issue features cover art by the renowned fantasy illustrator Ken Kelly, whose work was instrumental in defining the visual language of the magazine during this era. Kelly, a protégé of Frank Frazetta, focused on high-contrast, atmospheric compositions that aimed to capture the reader's imagination through dramatic figures and grim environments, a style that was widely praised by horror enthusiasts and remains a benchmark for the genre's aesthetic.
