Eerie #98

Eerie issue 98, published in 1978 by Warren Publishing, stands as a notable installment in a legendary run of horror-anthology comics. During the late 1970s, Warren Publishing maintained its reputation for high-quality, black-and-white magazine-sized horror, featuring complex narratives and sophisticated illustrations that distinguished the brand from the color comic books of the era.

The artistic direction of this period was heavily defined by an editorial focus on macabre storytelling and intricate pen-and-ink work, with contributions often coming from a rotating stable of talented artists and writers who helped cement the magazine's cult status. While specific design credits for individual stories within this issue vary, the publication was part of a larger aesthetic movement that valued moody, atmospheric horror as a mature alternative to mainstream superhero fare, eventually garnering a dedicated readership that persists among vintage collectors today.
