ElfQuest #24

ElfQuest #24, published in 1985 by WaRP Graphics, serves as a pivotal installment in the original quest series created by Wendy and Richard Pini. This issue continues the epic saga of the Wolfriders, an elven tribe struggling for survival on the harsh, primitive World of Two Moons. The series emerged from a 1978 self-publishing endeavor that challenged the mainstream comic book conventions of the era by focusing on long-form narrative arcs and complex character development.

Wendy Pini’s distinct visual style, characterized by fluid lines and expressive, almost dance-like character movements, defined the aesthetic of this issue. Her artwork was intended to emphasize the raw, naturalistic nature of the elves as they transitioned from their forest roots into a wider, more dangerous world. The series garnered a dedicated cult following for its blending of high fantasy tropes with mature, serialized storytelling, and issue #24 is recognized for its contribution to the enduring world-building that solidified ElfQuest as a foundational work in independent comics.
