ElfQuest: Hidden Years #22

ElfQuest: Hidden Years was a spin-off series published by Warp Graphics, intended to expand upon the vast mythology of the World of Two Moons established in the original 1978 ElfQuest run. Issue 22, released in the late 1990s, fits into a transitional era for the franchise as creators Wendy and Richard Pini sought to bridge narrative gaps between major story arcs. The series served as a creative laboratory for various contributors to explore peripheral characters and backstories while maintaining the distinct visual identity established by Wendy Pini's influential fantasy art style.

The aesthetic of this period continued to reflect the collaborative spirit of the Warp Graphics house style, characterized by detailed, fluid line work and a commitment to high-fantasy world-building. These issues were designed to satisfy a long-standing, dedicated fanbase that had followed the series through its migration from underground comic roots to more mainstream distribution. While the series navigated the complex landscape of the late-nineties independent comic market, it remained a vital touchstone for followers of the Wolfriders' saga, celebrated primarily for its role in deepening the complex lore of the Elves.
