Elizabeth Choy: Her Story #1

Elizabeth Choy: Her Story #1 was published as part of an educational comic series focused on highlighting the life and resilience of Elizabeth Choy, a Singaporean educator and humanitarian who became a national hero for her resistance against the Japanese occupation during World War II. The publication was designed to make historical narratives accessible to younger readers, serving as a blend of biographical storytelling and historical documentation that honors her legacy of courage and humanitarian aid.

The creative team behind this issue focused on visual narrative techniques to convey the gravity of Choy's experiences in the Kempeitai detention center. The design prioritizes historical fidelity, utilizing a graphic novel format to bring archival accounts of the 1940s to life. Upon its release, the series was well-regarded by educational institutions and historical archives for its contribution to preserving Singaporean oral history in a medium that resonates with students.
