Where it came from
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, issue 21, continues the long-running direct sequel to Hiro Mashima's globally successful Fairy Tail series. Launched in 2018, the sequel was created to satisfy persistent fan demand for further adventures of Natsu Dragneel and his guild, with Mashima providing the original storyboards while Atsuo Ueda handles the intricate illustrations. The narrative picks up immediately following the conclusion of the original manga, focusing on the team's ambitious journey to seal the Five Dragon Gods.
The aesthetic of this series remains faithful to the energetic and high-fantasy style established in the early 2000s, characterized by dynamic action sequences and character-driven humor. As issue 21 follows the series' established serialization format in Magazine Pocket, it reflects the ongoing refinement of Ueda’s art style, which has been widely praised for maintaining the spirit of the original while pushing the visual scale of the battles. Like its predecessors, the release serves to keep the franchise relevant for a new generation of readers while providing closure to lingering plot threads.
