FemForce #24

FemForce number 24, published in 1990 by AC Comics, represents a pivotal entry in the long-running independent series created by Bill Black. The series emerged in the mid-1980s as a nostalgic homage to the Golden Age of comic books, specifically the strong female lead archetypes of the 1940s. By the release of this issue, the title had firmly established its niche within the comic book industry by blending campy adventure with a distinct art style that paid tribute to classic pulp sensibilities.

The creative direction of this issue continued the series' signature focus on character-driven team dynamics led by figures like Ms. Victory and She-Cat. Bill Black’s design philosophy prioritized a retro-aesthetic that favored continuity with historical comic tropes over the increasingly gritty and dark tone prevalent in mainstream comics of the early 1990s. While the series often operated on the fringes of the direct market, it gained a dedicated following among readers who appreciated its steadfast commitment to the adventurous, brightly colored spirit of mid-century superhero storytelling.
