Where it came from
FemForce Up Close #2 is part of a series published by AC Comics as a companion to their long-running FemForce franchise, a title that has been a staple of the independent superhero comic scene since 1985. Created by Bill Black, the FemForce universe was designed as a nostalgic homage to the Golden Age of comics, featuring strong, costumed heroines in traditional adventure-style narratives. This specific 'Up Close' series was developed to provide readers with deeper biographical context and detailed illustrations of the various characters inhabiting this sprawling shared universe.
The issue features artwork and character profiles consistent with the house style of AC Comics, which often leaned into the aesthetic conventions of the 1940s and 1950s. Like much of the output from the company during this era, the publication was aimed at a niche audience of collectors who appreciated the studio's commitment to self-publishing and its specific dedication to retro-styled superhero storytelling. While the series did not reach mainstream commercial success, it remains a recognized title among fans of independent comic book history.
